Trey has been such a little doll since being unexpectedly banned from the "girls". He must have known that I couldn't deal with a fussy, needy little guy and has taken to the bottle with no complaints. There hasn't been any trouble getting him to sleep afterwards or anything, thank goodness. And Jerry is happy that he can finally have some sweet, quiet time with Trey and can help me out more at night. I'm not enjoying things quite as much. So far the pain hasn't been quite as bad as it was after I stopped nursing Abby. I figure in a couple days I should be doing much better....if only I could keep the kids from hitting them in the meantime :) And my ear is doing better. I can't hear anything yet but the pressure is mostly gone and there is rarely any pain. So I should be doing really well in a week or so. I can't wait for my body to be back to normal!

a good day
What a fun day it was around here. Abby and I made Jerry's cake this morning and then she painted him a birthday picture while I frosted the cake. We dyed our Easter eggs and then Jer's parents came over to babysit this evening so Jerry and I could have a date! We went out to dinner and then to Best Buy for some Wii games. It's always a treat to get out without the little guys in tow and the kids sure love having Gramma and Bumpa come play with them. The kids were super worn out from all the activities today and went to bed so easy tonight, what a bonus!
Daddy brought Abby a horse back from camp
getting ready to dye some eggs
Trey wishing he (and his nice bruise!) were outside
Happy Birthday...
...to Jerry! I'm doing my best to keep the kids quiet this morning so he can sleep in a little. Lucky guy. Abby helped me make his cake this morning and the house smells so good now. Can't wait to frost it and eat it.

good gravy!
I went to see the ENT today and yes, I do indeed have a perforated ear drum. I also have some "very interesting colored pus" in my sinus (his words exactly!), and sinusitis on my right side. I have no sinus pain or pressure so that at least is a small bonus. I have to use eardrops for the next two weeks and guess what.....you can't breastfeed while taking them. Great. I have been trying to slowly wean Trey for the past week or so, cutting out one feeding at a time. He was not happy about that so I can only imagine how pleased he's going to be about going col-turkey! I must say that I am definitely not looking forward to it. His first birthday is only 5 weeks away and I was planning on being done by then anyway but it was going to be a gradual shift. Can't wait to see how it goes :(

since i have some free time...
Jerry is now away at Camp Orkila with the entire SW 6th grade. He'll be back on Friday, completely exhausted I'm sure. He's in charge of the whole deal this year and it has been a LOT, I repeat, a LOT of work to get it all organized. I'm sure he'll be very happy to sleep in this weekend.
I developed an ear infection Saturday morning and went to the urgent care center for a look-see. They prescribed me and antibiotic and ear drops but by the afternoon I was in such excruciating pain that Jerry called and had the dr. phone in a Vicodin prescription. By late afternoon my eardrum finally burst. It was a big relief since I thought I was dying.....and I've given birth to two babies and had gall stones so I know pain...but nothing even came close to the pain of a ruptured eardrum. Now I can't hear out of my right ear and it's constantly oozing a nice yellow liquid. Awesome. I go in to see an ENT on Thursday just to have it looked at. They don't really do anything unless the tear is major which doesn't seem to be the case with me. It takes a couple of weeks to heal so I won't get my hearing back until then. And just when the weather gets nice and my husband leaves for the week, couldn't have happened at a better time.
We were supposed to go to the zoo on Saturday but had to cancel due to my ear. And I wasn't in much better shape Sunday but I was not about to disappoint Abby a second time. So after a bout of throwing up by me, we were off. Since it was such a nice weekend the zoo was absolutely packed and we finally found parking after about 35 minutes. Abby was asleep so that meant nobody but Jerry was whining about the lack of spaces. We spent about three hours in there. Abby and Jerry had a great time looking at all the animals. Trey and I spent most of the time admiring the view from a lot of different benches. He was just happy to be out and about. We headed over to my sister's apartment afterward since we had never seen it and I threw up again, on the street this time. Abby thought I was "spitting water". No more pain meds for me!! I'm hoping we'll get to go back in a few months when I am feeling better.
I have lots of fun pictures of the zoo and daily life but I am off to lay on the couch, again, and drain some more fluid from my ear. Lucky me!

ouch!
Poor little home-boy has been a tad cranky lately. I thought it was just a stage or the last remnants of his cold (other than the continuous snot drip) but while we were at Target he was letting out the occassional shriek and I managed to sneak a peek in his mouth and BAM!...the kid has 4 new teeth on the bottom bringing our grand total to 12 teeth! He NEVER lets me look in his mouth and for sure won't let me feel around in there so I was unaware of our newly erupted friends. At least I know he's not just fussy for nothing. I think that he's earned a few cranky moments. Hopefully he'll keep his outbursts to a minimum tomorrow as we are going to the zoo!!
